We pretty much don't celebrate Halloween. Yet. I'm really excited for when we have older kids and we can take them trick or treating and start some fun Halloween traditions with them. But as for now, we will just continue to enjoy our pumpkin carving and our "Garfield's Halloween" watching and call it a holiday.

Mingledorff Family Dinner
We realized recently that almost half of the Mingledorff kiddos live out
here in Utah/Idaho and we don't see each other nearly as often as we
should. So we decided we'd start doing regular family dinners together.
It was our turn to host this last time. Everybody (we missed you Meg and
Sam!) came to our little apartment and we had a blast just hanging out,
watching football, cooking, going to the park, playing games, eating, etc. It was awesome!
No better way to spend the day, I'd say.
Trunk or Treat!
Our ward's Trunk of Treat was on Friday night last week. We woke up the day of and decided we should go. Which meant that I had to get costumes and everything else ready in just a few hours by myself while taking care of a sick baby. It was pretty awesome. I think it ended up being pretty great though, and our trunk even won the Best Trunk award! (Ben was really excited about that one.)
Getting the costumes ready was really fun. I was a cowgirl, Ben was an Indian, and Trevor was Clark Kent with dollar store glasses sans lenses and I just made the super man symbol out of felt and pinned it on him. We ended up forgetting war paint for Ben, and Trevor would not keep his glasses on longer than half a second, but it was still a success I think.
The web for the trunk on the other hand, was a big pain. It's just strips of white fabric tied together. I tried to do it on the living room floor, but Trevor had way too much fun rolling around in it and chewing on it. Once I had the inspiration to tape it to the wall instead though, it wasn't nearly as terrible. The spider is a ball covered in fabric with yarn braids for legs and paper eyes. Needless to say, I kind of ran out of time for that baby.

Costume prep. Ben ended up not wearing the pigtails. They served as the spider's legs instead. I think they're cute. |

Fall
I never realized how much I like fall until last year. I used to get sad
when the leaves started to change color because it meant it was about
to get cold. Now I love it! It is so pretty! A couple weeks ago we
decided to go on a drive in the mountains for Family Night after Ben's
lesson on the earth. We were a little late getting up there, so a lot of
the colors were already gone, but it was still beautiful.
Please excuse the carsick look. Something about riding in the car up the side of a mountain on a windy road with a crying baby in the car for an hour doesn't sit too well with me. |
This is how Trevor felt about the trip |

Cornbelly's
Ben and I went on an awesome date to Cornbelly's earlier this week. It was so much fun! We thought it was just a corn maze, but there was a ton of stuff there! It was like a carnival type thing. If you're in Provo/surrounding areas and you've never been, go. It is so worth it.
There were barely any people there, probably because it was like -37289 degrees and raining. They actually ended up closing like 2 hours early, but let us stay. It was wonderful! Because nobody was there, we got to do this like 85000 times. Awesome.
And thanks, Bri, for "watching" Trev while we were gone. You're truly wonderful.
They do a different theme for the 12 acre corn maze every year. This is 2012 |
The corn was a little short... it got better the deeper you went into the maze, but this was pretty average |

Trevor - 10 months
This month, he moved on from the army crawling! That's right, he crawls like a normal baby these days. It's not faster, I think he just realized that it requires a lot less effort. He loves to cruise along the furniture and pull everything down and make giant messes to wade through/trip over. He started waving this month! He also waves/fans his hand at anything hot (candle, lightbulb, stove...). His favorite animal sound is a chicken. Ben and Trevor have conversations that consist of "buk"ing back and forth over and over again quite frequently. It is adorable.
He's been sick this last week with a fever and a nasty cold. It's really sad and he's not really into eating anything right now. It stresses me out. But he's hanging in there. Other than that, he's just been getting bigger, cuter, and more fun! We sure love the little guy. Happy 10 months, T!
